01 / Who we are

RS Software is a software development business run by Rico Smits, based in Perth, Western Australia. If you have a question about your privacy, email rico@rssoftware.com.au.

02 / What we collect

We only collect what we need.

When you send us a message: your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message.

When you visit the site: standard technical information that every website receives, such as your IP address, your browser type, and the pages you open. Our host records this in its server logs.

We do not ask you for sensitive information, and we do not collect anything beyond this.

03 / How we collect it

We collect your name, email, and message directly from you when you fill in the contact form. The technical information is collected automatically by our hosting provider when your browser loads a page.

04 / Why we collect it

We use your information to reply to your message and talk to you about your enquiry, to do the work that follows if you decide to hire us, and to keep the site running, secure, and working properly. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

05 / Who we share it with

We keep your information to ourselves as much as we can. A few trusted services help us run the site. Formspree handles our contact form, so when you send a message it passes through and is stored by Formspree. Vercel hosts the website and keeps the server logs described above.

These providers are based in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

06 / Cookies and tracking

This site does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking tools. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not follow you around the web. We host our fonts ourselves, so opening a page does not hand your details to an outside font service.

07 / How long we keep it

We keep the messages you send us for as long as we need them to answer your enquiry and handle any work that comes from it. Once we no longer need them, we delete them. Server logs are kept for a short time by our host for security and troubleshooting.

08 / Keeping it safe

We protect your information with reasonable security measures. The site runs over HTTPS, and access to your messages is limited to Rico. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we take it seriously.

09 / Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it or delete it. Email rico@rssoftware.com.au and we will sort it out, usually within a few days.

10 / Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email us first so we can put it right. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

11 / Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the date below. The version on this page is always the current one.
